2025 Porsche Macan Electric

By: Raymond Tang

The introduction of the Macan Electric marks a significant step in Porsche’s electrification journey as the brand’s first fully electric SUV.

Staying true to Porsche’s iconic legacy, the Macan Electric lineup places performance at its core. The default Macan Electric powertrain sets the baseline with 335 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque, allowing it to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds. The faster Macan 4 and 4S offer additional steps in performance, while the range-topping Turbo Electric delivers supercar-level power with 630 hp and 833 lb-ft of torque. In this setup, the SUV drops the 0-to-100 km/h time to a blistering 3.3 seconds.

The Macan’s 100 kWh lithium-ion battery is a key part of Porsche’s new 800-volt Premium Platform Electric architecture. It supports DC fast charging at up to 270 kW, which can charge from 10 to 80 percent in about 21 minutes, and 11kW at home with Level 2 AC charging. Porsche claims the most efficient variant can travel up to 654 kilometres when fully charged using the WLTP testing cycle.

Visually, Porsche’s new Macan design follows an evolutionary approach inside-out. The coupe-like exterior shape of the original Macan remains, but the separated daytime running lights and lower-positioned headlights give the new Macan a distinct yet familiar look. The large clamshell hood of the outgoing Macan is redesigned with a lower hood line and rake that’s reminiscent of the 911 sports car. Size-wise, the wheelbase grows 86mm longer and 53mm wider, contributing to the overall length increase by 58mm. The new interior is also updated to resemble the recently refreshed Cayenne SUV and third-generation Panamera sedan.
